Amanda Frances (nee Borneman) McKenna, 77, of 1150 Connecticut Avenue, Downtown, Washington D.C., passed away at dusk surrounded by her family on Friday, October 10, 1924 in the Connecticut Apartments after battling an illness for 4 weeks. She was a housewife, well-known in society circles, and for many years had been closely associated with local and national welfare work. Amanda and her husband had been residents in Washington D.C. since 1884 when her husband served as a Supreme Court senior associate justice in the 50th Congress before President McKinley selected him for the US Attorney General, but when a vacancy occurred on the Supreme Court bench, Justice McKenna resigned to fill it. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Patrick McKenna. Devoted mother of Major Frank Borneman of Chicago, Clara J. (Pitts) Duffield of New York, Marie C. (Davenport) Brown of Boston, and Hildegarde (John Leggett) Pultz, of Washington D.C. The funeral services were officiated in the residence by the pastor of Saint Matthew's Catholic Church Reverend E.L. Buckey on Monday, October 13, 1924 at 11 AM. Interment followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
