"The LaFayette Sun" - May 29, 1912:

Render Finney Dies Suddenly.

A message was received here yesterday morning conveying the sad news of the death of Render Finney, which occurred early Tuesday morning at the home of his uncle, Mr. A. B. Wilson, in Talladega. Render had been ill of fever for several days, but was convalescing. He had started into the bathroom yesterday morning, when he fainted, and death came before the physician, who had been summoned, arrived.
The deceased was born in this county and resided near Chapel Hill. He moved to Talladega the first of this year to make his home with his uncle.
The remains will be brought to Milltown today and interred in the cemetery at that place.

AND...

June 12, 1912:

Asleep.

Just when life was fullest of hope, the death angel tenderly knocked at the door of the happy home of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Wilson, of Talladega, and took from it a life so young and full of hope for a bright future. Render Finney was born Nov. 10th, 1891, and died May 28th, 1912. He leaves a brother, sister, many relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
Oh, how we miss his smiling face! but do not grieve, for he is only asleep and some day, dear ones, we hope to meet him and what a joy forever. Thou art gone, dear Render, but thou will not be forgotten.

“There is no death! although we grieve
When beautiful, familiar forms
That we have learned to love are torn
From our embracing arms.
Although with bowed and breaking heart,
With sable garb and silent tread,
We bear their senseless dust of rust,
And say that they are dead.
They are not dead! they have but passed
Beyond the mists that blind us here,
Into the new and larger life
Of that serener sphere.”

- His cousin, Mrs. W.F.D.
