John R. Hale Sr., 56, 117 N. Independence Ave., died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 1963, in River Bluff Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

Born April 9, 1907, in Willisburg, Ky., son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hale. Lived 35 years in Rockford, coming here from DeKalb. Employed as a painter by Illinois Spray Paint Corp. for 25 years. Member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters Bonnie and Judy Hale, Rockford; one son, John R. Jr., with the Navy in Florida; five brothers L. E. and Will, both of Rockford; Earl, Harvard; Justice, Maple Park; and P.M., Wheaton; and three sisters, Mrs. Fay Dearth and Mrs. Lillie Pinkston, both of Rockford, and Mrs. Lucy Graham, Plymouth, Iowa.

Services at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Julian-Poorman Funeral Home. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.
