Marjorie Caroline Katherine (Adler) Strunk, 94, of Clinton, passed away, Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Alverno Health Care Facility – Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt, Dylan, John, Brian, Mike, Andrew, and Jim Strunk. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christian and Andy Heaford. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Marjorie Adler Strunk was born January 28, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Annetta (Schluns) Adler. She graduated from Mt. St. Clare Academy. She married Paul Leopold Strunk on September 22, 1940 in Clinton; he preceded her in death on November 28, 1991. They lived in Chicago before moving to Clinton.

Marjorie was a clerical administrator and worked for Visiting Nurses Association for 22 years. She and her husband were partners in the 4th Street Cleaners and she later worked with the Child Support Recovery Unit.

Marjorie along with her sisters, Audrey Dolan and Theo Smith, Felix Adler’s nieces, founded the Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center.

Marjorie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton and a past member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was on a bowling league at the Odeon and was a member of the Clinton Boat Club. She was a former member of the AMVETS Auxillary and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing Bridge and 500. She was a lover of Big Band Music and loved to listen to her husband’s band.

Marjorie enjoyed her family and friends and was a truly dedicated mother. She always nurtured her children and encouraged their accomplishments. She is survived by her children: Paul Joseph (Marcia) Strunk of Clinton, Susan Holly (Paul Pearson) Strunk of Bethel Connecticut, Nancy Lee (Kipp) Larsen of Gladbrook, Iowa, Martin Kim Strunk of Walcott, Iowa, and Kevin (Kathy) Strunk of Morrison, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including her niece Terri Lee Schimitz Young; and sister Theo (Darrell) Smith of Clinton.

In addition to her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Ruth Schmitz and Audrey Dolan, and 2 brothers Edward and Robert Adler.

Memorials may be made to the Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center.
