American Attorney. He attended Schenectady's Union College, studied law and attained admission to the bar. He practiced in Newburgh, and served as Orange County District Attorney. He later practiced in New York City. Fullerton was appointed a Justice of the New York Supreme Court in August 1867, filling a position made vacant after the incumbent's death, and he served until the successor elected in November 1867 was sworn in. He was involved in several prominent court cases of the late 1800s, including the corruption cases of the Tweed Ring, and the adultery trial of Henry Ward Beecher. Fullerton also represented the railroad interests of Cornelius Vanderbilt. His Newburgh mansion has been maintained, and is now a privately owned facility which is available for public activities through the Fullerton Mansion Center for Culture and History.
