British Born Widow, Maud Simpkins 65 of 5 Bungalow Court, ? Street, Humber Bay was buried on 21 October 1941. She had died from a heart attack

Maud was born in Chelmsford, Essex to Corn Merchant, John William Burls, from Manuden, Essex, and wife, Mary Hannah Potter, from Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. They had six children; Frederick Hilary, Bernard William, Nellie, Clifford, Maud and Cora Burls. The family would later live in London.

Aged 18, Maud of 1A New Kings St, Deptford married Victor Albert Froud 20 of 33 Randall Place, Greenwich at Camberwell, London in 1892. They would be together about 12 years and have 5 children: Victor Clifford Dennis (Vic) Froud, DCM, MM, Catherine Maud 1895-1895, Katherine Cora (Kate), Matilde Frances (Minnie) and John Rex. It is thought Victor and Maud separated around 1904. Which necessitated the 3 elder children to spend varying amounts of time at The Hollies, a Children's Home in Sidcup, Kent

Dates and full details not known: Maud had 3 further children; Bernard Edward Burls Froud 1906-1992, Mary Lilian Simpkins Froud 1910-? and Robert Arthur Simpkins 1914-2004. Apr-Jun 1914 Bermondsey; Maud Froud married Hammerman, Robert Simpkins 1855-1919. Robert 65 sadly died of Spanish Flu at 8 Cherry Garden Street, Bermondsey

June 1922 - Salvation Army Scheme, widow Maud Simpkins 48 and her 3 younger children Emigrate to Canada. Sailing from Liverpool to Halifax, Nova Scotia aboard the Empress of Britain

6 Sept 1922 Nova Scotia - Maud Simpkins married labourer, Jeremiah Judson (Jerry) McDonald 1869-1951. Relationship did not last. Maud and children settle in Ontario, and she reverted back to Simpkins

6 May to 24 August 1935 - Maud 60, visits England to see her siblings, children and grandchildren. Residing at 335 Devon Building, Tooley Street, Bermondsey, home of spinster sister, post office clerk, Cora Burls 54

Relationship: Great-Grandmother of Bermondsey born husband, John Barham. He descends her daughter, Katherine Cora 'Kate' and husband, John Nelson James 'Jack' Barham
