Motor racing driver. Ivor Leon Bueb was born in Dulwich, London, and later became known as a fun-loving, extrovert garage owner from Cheltenham. He began racing a Cooper F3 car in 1953 and happily raced anything and everything as he also took care of his garage business. He's best known for winning the tragic 1955 Le Mans 24hr race in a Jaguar D-type (with Mike Hawthorn), a feat repeated in 1957 in an Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-type (with Ron Flockhart). He raced in World Championship F1 races a mere six times, in an elderly Connaught and a private Maserati, but sadly lost his life in a crash whilst driving a BRP-Cooper-Borgward F2 car in the Auvergne Trophy race at Clermont-Ferrand, France.
