Woodrow Whalen
"Loving Father"
Beloved father, Woodrow Whalen, age 88, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 in West Jordan, Utah.

Dad was born December 20, 1915 in Benleo, Kentucky to Jesse and Hettie Douglas Whalin.

Woodrow moved to Indianapolis in 1923. Served seven years and six months in the U.S. Army. Three years and six months was in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years service, and then moved to New Mexico in 1975. Woody moved to Utah in 2000.

He was a life member and commander of the American Legion post 10, VFW Post 10124, DAV Chapter 10, Member Voiture 41, all in Las Cruces, NM. Member of Star Lodge No. 225 F. & A.M. , Orland, IN. After his retirement he organized the UAW Retirees Office in Las Cruces and was the chairman for 14 years.

Woodrow was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Silcox Whalen.

Survived by his children, Yolanda J. (Jerry) Olson, Marvin L. Whalen, Shirley K. (Mike) May, Linda Vosberg, and Bruce (Thelma) Whalen;

stepchildren, Judy Thurman, Annie McCoy, Diane Hallmark, Jeane Graham, and James Silcox;

28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 13, 2004, 12 noon at the New Mexico Baca's Funeral Chapel, 304 East Boutz Road, Las Cruces, New Mexico,
