After being christened with the stage name of Marc Platt, he became a high-demand character actor, often portraying dashing lovers, boyfriends, playboys, best friends, businessman, heroes, and soldiers. He appeared in the original stage productions of "Jubilee," "Yokel Boy," "The Lady Comes Across," "Beat The Band," "Oklahoma!," "Kiss Me Kate," "The Nutcracker," and "Maggie". In 1941, he began to divide his time between New York City, New York, and Los Angeles, California, appearing in the film industry starring in such motion pictures "The Gay Parisian" (1941), "You're in the Army Now" (1941), "Who Calls" (1942), "Tonight and Every Night" (1945), "When a Girl's Beautiful" (1947), "Touch of Venus" (1947), "The Swordsman" (1948), and "These Wilder Years" (1956). During his career, he was an honorary director of Radio City Music Hall, was a member of both the Theatre Guild and The Screen Actors Guild, was supportive of the Democratic party, was a regular parishioner of the Catholic church, and he was married to acclaimed actresses, and dancers, Eleanor Marra from 1942 to 1947 and Jean Goodall from 1951 to 1993 (his first marriage to Marra ended in divorce and produced one child, actor Ted LePlat, and his second marriage to Goodall ended upon her death and produced two children). After retiring in 1993, he spent the final years of his life granting interviews about his career and devoted time towards his family and religious causes.
