I was born Lewis Dale Acord aka Dale Lewis Acord August 6, 1936 in Castle Gate, Carbon County, Utah. The second son of Lewis Earl and Delpha Mae Pettey Acord. I spent my youth in Carbon County in the small towns of Castle Gate and Helper. I graduated from Carbon High School in 1954 and entered the U.S. Navy serving the majority of my enlistment on the U.S Submarine Conger out of New London, CT. I met and married my sweetheart Ruth Blanche Gadbois in Noank, CT. on April 26, 1957. We enjoyed 45 happy years together until she passed away in 2002. I missed her dearly. We were blessed with three wonderful children during our marriage. I attended the University of Utah and a technical school before beginning a 43 - Year career in the manufacturing industry that enabled me to travel to several foreign countries in Europe and Asia in the course of my management assignments.I enjoyed coaching Ute conference football for 17 years and participating in its growth from shortly after it began in the late 50's until 1976 when I pleased my dear wife by "retiring" from coaching. I then turned my attention to rooting for my favorite "Utah Utes" which continues on through my children and grandchildren. I was a Crimson Club Member and enjoyed my interactions with Coach Ron McBride.
I am survived by my three children Patricia Ann (Dwayne), Alan Jeffrey (Julie) and Jodie Lee (Frank) who provided us with the twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren of whom I am truly proud, my sister-in-law Laura Jarrett (Bill) and my special friend Billie.
A special thank you to my friends at the Murray Heritage Center and the great dances that I have enjoyed attending over the last several years. I am grateful for my 3 dogs, Tootsie, Elvis and Crazy Ricky who have been my constant companions since my wife's passing.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, April 1st at 6-8 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and the Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2nd at the Stratford Ward 1370 East Stratford Avenue with viewing beforehand at 11:00 AM.
