Dr. Roberts was born in New York, New York.
He obtained his bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Roberts practiced internal medicine for twenty-five years in Hollywood, Florida, where he was beloved by his patients and medical community. In 1992, he became a professor of internal medicine and internist at the Georgia Health Sciences University. While there, he developed an ethics curriculum and chaired the hospital ethics committee. Dr. Roberts organized, and for the last ten years, directed the Mini-Medical School, a community outreach program to educate the Augusta community about health and medicine.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Janet Krugman Roberts; his children, Marc and Louise Roberts of Boca Raton, FL, Jeff and Sharon Roberts of Cleveland, OH, Gary and Lisa Roberts of Chicago, IL, Meredith and Eric Sidewater of Atlanta, GA, Paige and Eric Mintz of Hudson, OH; grandchildren, Ashley and Jesse Vila, Leslie, Brittany, Christopher, Alley, Abby, Jonathon and Alexis Roberts, Matthew and Celeste Sidewater, Jordan and Elliott Mintz; great-grandson, Anthony Vila; and his brother, Martin (Gillian) of Cold Spring Harbor, NY.
Dr. Roberts was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Sue Roberts.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Monday, October 10, 2011 in the Sunrise Chapel of Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Highway, NW, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328, with Rabbi Brad Levenberg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice.
