Mrs. Virgie May Cox, 312 Lincoln Avenue, Campbellsville, was killed when the car in which she was riding skidded off Highway 210, 4 miles from Hodgenville, November 11. She was thrown from the car and received head and chest injuries. In the automobile with her were her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Cox and son-in-law, Robert Donald Cox, driver of the car. They were bound for Louisville on a shopping trip when the accident occurred at 2:20 p.m. She died at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown at 8:30 p.m.
Mrs. Cox was born September 16, 1909 in Spurlington, Taylor County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Abel. She was married February 7, 1928 and had 10 children and 22 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held today, Tuesday, November 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Methodist Church with burial in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Acton. Rev. William Price will be in charge of the service.
Surviving Mrs. Cox are her children: Sammy Lee Cox, San Diego Naval Base, California; Les Cox and John Cox, of Tampa, Florida; Mrs. Mae Druin, Taylor County; Mrs. Faye Beard, New Brunswick, Ohio; Donald Lee Cox, Jerry Cox, Mrs. Helen McVay, Mrs. Margaret Cox, and George Cox, all of Campbellsville. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ella McNear, Scottsburg, Indiana; and her husband, Aaron Cox.
The pallbearers are: Russell Simpson, Paul Wilson, Jim Ed Cox, Charles Wilson, Willard Brown, and Bobby Marples.
