Called into service at Greenville January 25, 1863; "...being formed that late in the war, a larger number of men in the regiment were in their 40's; Company "B" was made up almost entirely of old men and young boys from Barbour County, under the command of Captain James W. Mabry";
Was assigned first to duty at Pollard, Alabama and remained until ordered to join the Army of Tennessee at Dalton, Georgia;
Fought throughout the Atlanta Campaign, at Franklin and Nashville and finally in North Carolina at the surrender;
Trion was not among those paroled there May 1, 1865; late in the war Company "B" 57th Alabama Infantry Regiment became Company "G" 27th Alabama Infantry Regiment.
