Charlie Duron Lopez, was born September 6, 1924 and passed away peacefully April 2, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 66 years- Elva Lopez and 10 Children- Yolanda, Martha (Ruben Cerda); Cecilia (Gary Hosmer); Theresa (Jose Lopez); Elizabeth Jane; Genevieve (Chris Natividad); David (Pauline); Mary Bernadette (Victor Martinez); Richard (Barbara); Mary Jo (Brian Kolb); 28 Grandchildren and 18 Great- Grandchildren.

Charlie was born to Gonzalo Lopez and Juana Duron Lopez in Fort Bend County, Texas. His family lived in Sugar Land for many years with his 12 siblings and parents before relocating to Houston.

Charlie is a World War II Veteran and enlisted in the United States Army in June 1943 and served overseas with 39th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of Operations as Heavy Machine Gunner until his discharge in 1946.

On September 24, 1950 he married Elva Anthony Lopez in Houston, Texas and together they raised two sons and eight daughters. They were married for sixty-six years and celebrated many milestone anniversaries with their children and grandchildren through the decades. Their love, family life, and marriage have been adored and respected by all of their family. Charlie was a wonderful husband, father, spiritual role model, and a reverent parishioner of his church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Houston.

PFC Charlie Duron Lopez, born Sept. 6, 1924, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lopez, Houston, Texas. Attended Sugarland Grammar School. Entered service June 9, 1943, assigned to Army 9th Div. Trained at Camp Wallace. Overseas from Aug. 12, 1944, to Feb. 18, 1946, in the Battle of the Bulge, the Crossing to the Rhine River, and in Central Germany. Awarded: Combat Inf. Badge, American Theater Campaign, EAME Camp. Medal w/3 Stars, Good Con. and Victory Medal. Discharged March, 1946.
