Old Bethel Road Cemetery
Also known as Bethel Road Cemetery , Thomas Smith Family Cemetery , Tom Smith Family Cemetery

This is a Historically Black cemetery. The associated church was gone before 1942.
Directions:
Take Hwy 70 North out of Newnan. Go about 10 miles, passing Andrews Chapel Methodist Church on the right, and then turn Right onto Jim Starr Rd. Go about 1mi to Bethel Road. Turn left onto Bethel Rd. (it is a dirt/gravel road). 1 Go about .6mi. The cemetery will be on a hill on the left side of the road. The church was on the right side of the road.
Thae cemetery are about 1 acre in size. There are many Field Stones and sunken places. There are two marked graves and 1 slab without an inscription.
A Mr. Davidson, who turned 86 in May 1986, recalls carrying these bodies of black individuals to be buried:
A daughter and niece of Tom Smith. He cannot remember their names. They died within a year or two of each other in 1927-1928.
Also, two Black gentlemen who allegedly killed a farmer. He could not remember the names.
