located to the north of the intersection of Ditty Road and TN Hwy 136 outside of Cookeville, Tennessee.
The Ditty-Fergus Cemetery, a private family cemetery, was named for two Revolutionary War patriots. The patriots, John David Ditty 1755-1846 and Francis Fergus 1752-1841. John's son, Abraham Ditty married Jincy Ann Fergus and hence members of these families comprise the 7 burials in the small cemetery which has been updated and fenced.
The seven known burials are:

[Martha Ann Farley, 1st wife of William M. Fergus who is buried in the Rose Valley Cemetery, Stafford County, Kansas. His marker reads "Sleep father, sleep till Judgement Day, til we meet you there."]

I-40 runs east and west through Cookeville, TN. Turn south at the Burgess Falls Road (Route 135) exit (west of Jefferson Avenue - exit for downtown Cookeville). Stay on the Burgess Falls Road for 5 miles until you reach Ditty Road. Turn right on Ditty Road. Cross over Cain Creek. After the first long driveway look on the small rise and you will see the cemetery. The second house on the left (perhaps ¼ mile) is the home of the owner of the property where the cemetery is located. Lillard L. Maxwell is the owner of the property, 5038 Ditty Road, Cookeville, TN 38501, telephone (931) 432-4444. He has always been interested in our Ditty/Fergus genealogy and has legally filed in Putnam County, Tennessee leaving the cemetery in perpetuity to the descendants of Francis Fergus.
