Mrs. Marie Janasek died at her home two miles south of Munden, March 15, 1917, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 9 days.
The funeral services were held at the house Sunday noon and the remains laid to rest in the Tabor cemetery.
Marie Kafka Janasek was born in Borove Litomysl, Bohemia, May 6, 1835. In 1861 she was united in marriage to Frank Janasek of Hermanice. To this union were born four children, the oldest daughter preceded her February 8, 1873.
She with her husband and two children departed from their native country October 15, 1867 and came to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they resided for three years. In 1870 they came to Republic county, Kansas, where they took up a homestead and endured many hardships of the early pioneer days. Her husband preceded her in death May 6, 1900.
She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and always lived a faithful life, being loved by all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn her death, one daughter, Mrs. Helen Hanzlichek of Belleville, and two sons, Frank and Joseph Janasek of Munden, one sister and one brother in Bohemia and one sister, Mrs. Anna Brokesh of Munden, and nine grandchildren besides a host of friends.
