Arthur William Buesing was born February 14, 1935 to August Henry Buesing & Alma Margaretta Meier Buesing on the family farm in Page County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church Yorktown, Iowa. Greeting him was his sister Alberta just 14 months old. He called her big little sister. Art graduated in 1950 from St Paul Lutheran parochial school in Yorktown. Art being older was encouraged by a neighbor boy to join the Navy and they were off to boot camp together. After basic training in Great Lakes, Ill they went their own ways. Art had a love for flying and was very good at repairing the electrical circuits on board their flying sea plane. While in Japan, Art became sick with an appendicitis attack grounding him as his fellow flight crew left never to return. He served his 3-year enlistment with an Honorable discharge, came home for a little while then went to Sacramento California where he got a GED and was working on his college degree. He returned to Iowa to help on the farm after it was hit by a tornado. Later he moved to Fairmont, Minnesota where he found a job as a mechanic at a service station. He also did carpentry work. His future wife LaRayne Hiller stopped at the gas station for repair work on her car and that is how they met. They were united in marriage November 22, 1972 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minnesota. Art and LaRayne loved to travel and they visited every state except Alaska. They joined a rock club and became rock hobbyists looking for agates and gemstones. This led into making jewelry. Art had many hobbies including gardening, fishing, and photography, using his metal detector to find old coins. Art cared for LaRayne as her health deteriorated until her death in 2010. He then moved to Clarinda in 2015 and resided at the Eiler Place until 2019 and moved to the nursing home. Art is preceded in death by his wife LaRayne, sister Ruth and brother in law John Meether, brother Norm and sister in law Farah Buesing and brother in law Jack Smith. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Alberta Smith, Heidi Bartz (Denny), Don Buesing (Connie), David Buesing (Kendi) and many nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 9th at Ritchie Funeral Home with immediate family only. Visitation will be held Saturday May 9th from 11-6pm. Memorials are suggested to the Presentation Nursing School Fairmont Minnesota.
