"John H. Bushey, a former brakeman on the Nickel Plate road, was killed in a railway accident at Chicago Saturday, the particulars of which are not known here. A message to Charles M. Bushey, a brother of the deceased, conveyed the sad tidings, but did not state the manner of death. Mr. Bushey and Mr. Smitley, with their families, are in Chicago to look after the funeral arrangements and until their return the particulars of the accident cannot be learned. John Bushey was employed on the Nickel Plate until last fall, when he quit that road to take a position on a Chicago road. He leaves a widow and several children. The remains will probably be interred at Latty, Ohio, from which place the deceased came when he entered railway service." - The Fort Wayne Sentinel, Monday, 14 May 1900, Page 7.

"News was received in the city yesterday that John A. Bushey, a railroad man who formerly lived on Superior street in this city, and worked on the Nickel Plate road, had been killed at the Calumet terminal in East Chicago. The unfortunate man fell under the wheels of the locomotive and was instantly killed. He leaves a wife and two small children. The funeral will take place at Latty, O., his childhood home. Conductor C. M. Bushey, of the Nickel Plate, a brother, and Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Smithley, have gone to Chicago to attend the funeral." - The Fort Wayne News, Monday, 14 May 1900, Page 4.

"The remains of the late John M. Bushey, who was killed by the cars at Hammond, on the Calumet Terminal, a few days ago, was buried at Stony Island yesterday.
