Bio

I have been using Find A Grave as an information resource for almost 20 years. I never thought about becoming a member or participating years ago, because I was busy working and raising a family. My life slowed down and I got busy caring for aging parents and family members. After the loss of a family member, I was looking for their memorial and discovered that they had accidentally been listed with a misspelled last name and also placed in the wrong cemetery (similar name/wrong location). I could not make the needed corrections without becoming a member. The memorial managers that I have suggested edits to have been so helpful! Everyone is eager to fix a mistake and provide the most accurate information possible. The volunteers that have fulfilled photo requests are awesome! My main focus of interest has been Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery, Asbury, Marshall County, AL (ID 2391788). The cemetery began in 1976 and I have a lot of family members laid to rest there. I did not originally plan to actually manage any memorials until I discovered that several people (some relatives, some not) did not have a memorial on Find A Grave and they had been deceased for several years. So I added those memorials to make this cemetery up to date and as accurate as possible. I also had to request 3 memorials be removed that had been placed there by accident because of similar name cemetery but different County in AL. I do more work as an editor, to help other contributors fix typing errors associated with names, (example: Mlcheal /Michael ) update missing information and merge duplicate memorials that I have come across when I am searching for people. I have also been able to answer a few questions from members these last few months and helped a few people connect some missing pieces. I just love helping and being involved with all the contributors that make up Find A Grave.
