Updated October 2023:

My dad piqued my interest in history and tracking our family's genealogy when I was just a kid. I have lots of fond memories together with him and my brother driving to cemeteries and libraries across SW Ontario to help him conduct his research. He has been working on our family tree for over 3 decades. It currently contains over 45,000 individuals. He has been a significant contributor to both FIND-A-GRAVE and ANCESTRY. I'm very proud of his life's work. I feel lucky to have been trained by one of the best.

Some of my direct family ANCESTORS on my dad's side include the following:

I am a descendant of Louis HÉBERT, 1575-1627, and Marie ROLLET, 1588-1649, my 12th great-grandparents, who were the first family to settle in (New France), Québec, 1617.

I am descendant of John ALDEN; Priscilla MULLINS, my 11th great-grandparents, who were MAYFLOWER passengers, 1620.

Ambroise SICARD/SECORD, 1631-1712, my 9th great-grandfather, a French Huguenot refugee who came to America and was a founder of New Rochelle, NY. Some SECORD descendants were also Loyalists that came to the Niagara area in CANADA.

I have many UNITED EMPIRE LOYALIST, (UEL), family ancestors, through all 4 of my great-grandparents. The Loyalists are Sergeant Joseph KNAPP; Daniel NETTLETON, Colonel Jessop's Corp. settled Augusta Township, Grenville County. The following settled in the Niagara Area, and of them most served under Colonel John Butler. Names are William John READ, Grantham Township; John BESSEY, Grantham Twp; John CLARK, Grantham Twp; Ferderick ANGER, Jr, George Frederick ANGER, Bertie Twp; Francis ELLSWORTH, Stamford; Bertie Twp; Henry WINDECKER, Bertie Twp; Benjamin Bycroft/BEECROFT, Ancaster Twp; Anthony West broeck/WESTBROOK, Ancaster Twp; Bassnett DELL, Willoughby Twp; Leonard MISENER, Thorold Twp; Philip George BENDER, Stamford Twp; Robert COOK, Stamford Twp; John STEINHOFF, Stamford & Crowland, and later Woodhouse Twp, Norfolk County. The following settled in New Brunswick and later Norfolk County, Ontario: Hannah MONTROSS, DUE, d/o Peter MONTROSS, UEL, wife Leah MABIE-MABEE, DUE, d/o Simon MABIE-MABEE, UEL.

A lot is unknown about my mom's side of the family as it hasn't been researched due to the fact that there is a language barrier (Italian) and a lack of interest from my living ancestors on my maternal line. I do know that my mom was born in Canada. Both my Nonno & Nonna (grandparents) were born in Francavilla, Sicily, Italy and arrived by ship in Halifax, NS, Canada in ~1953. I'd love to one day learn more about that side of my family.
