Periodically searching for my family with the surname Kares and its female version Karesova, primary location Czech Republic . Both are the same surnames, the suffix -ova means "of Kares" or loosely "belonging to Kares" It is my father's last name and I was able to track his name to a farmhouse in Hlupin, a small village in the Czech Republic. From the village cronicals I know that my family, Kares, was living on that farm at least since 1654 or even earlier but the land records didn't exist before 1654. In 1921 census Kares family was still living there! Not directly mine but our relatives. I'm creating my family tree and still working on the Kares tree, years 1795-1650's ( this priod is the most time consuming as the writing styles are very different from present day cursive or print letters).

Also, searching for my relatives on my paternal grandmother side, surname Matlas, Matlasova. On this side of family can't find anything, other than that my grandma was born in 1920 in Brandys nad Labem, town not far from Prague, the capital. My father was very young when his grandparents died so he can't tell me anything more. Any help would be appreciated

I'm fluent in Czech and somewhat German. I can translate documents written in Czech and also know all digital Czech archives that contain birth, marriage and death records for the whole country as well as land records and much more. Cheers to happy researching!
