Bio

"You only live as long as the last person who remembers you."

Born and raised in Prescott, Ontario, I have an interest in genealogy and family lines. I am currently tracing the family trees of the Gobeil and Ward families, my parents' families. The Gobeil family was one of the first families to settle in Canada in the mid-1600s.

The family name has died out in France. All Gobeils in North America descend from the first settler Jean Gobeil who arrived with his family in Ilse D'Orleans near Quebec city circa 1650. His son, Barthelemy, was the sole surviving male to begin a family here.

I have just begun my investigation of the Ward family originating in England/Scotland. My maternal grandmother Marion Jackson-Ward descended from Edward Jackson, a United Empire Loyalist. Born in Ireland, he was a member of the British Army during the American Revolutionary War and served also in the War of 1812 as a spy, returning to Fort Wellington and settling in this area after escaping capture in Saratoga, NY.

It would please me to assist anyone seeking information in the area. Recently retired, I have taken on mapping the Blue Church Cemetery. As part of this, I am establishing and/or updating memorials using Find-a-Grave. I consult for the Blue Church Cemetery Board and the Grenville Historical Society here in Prescott, Ontario, Canada.

Anyone who has created a memorial in the Blue Church Cemetery and no longer wishes to manage it may transfer it to me. Every grave in Sections 02, 03 and 04 is on Findagrave, while Section 01, the oldest section, is being updated.
