Northeast Michigan Genealogical Society was established in 1973 and serves the genealogical needs of Northeastern Michigan. The aims of the Society are:

* To foster genealogical interest and activities in the counties of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle;

* To encourage and preserve family history and genealogical records;

* To encourage area entities to expand and publicize their genealogical holdings;

* To make materials of interest available to genealogists and the general public.
