Bio

I'm a native of southeast Alabama and a member of a very large family that has been in this area for over 200 years and in America since 1620 beginning at Old Saybrook CT (Chalker) and migrating down the east coast through Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, and on to the mid-west. My father said that his mother was Cherokee (Howell, Johnson, Andrews, Carroll) but it is difficult to prove through DNA. I have been researching my family genealogy for many years, building on the research of family members that have now passed. I've had multiple DNA tests including mitochondrial. Family is mostly from England (Kent), the Iberian peninsula, and even a little Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. Findagrave is a great resource. I have been a member for many years but just recently began to submit more memorials and suggest edits/bios/family connections to existing memorials. Family surnames; Chalker, Heath, Land, Cassidy, Howell, Johnson, Andrews, Carroll, Summerlin, Stokes, Averett, Byrd/Bird, Johnston, Waters, Chancey, Calloway, Curenton, Goff, McCarty, and others.
Anyone may use any pictures that I have posted on memorials. I have not yet submitted many pictures of graves but plan to begin that work when milder weather permits. Also if you find any of the memorials I have submitted that are your family members or very close friends, just contact me through the 'Suggest Other Edits' field in the memorial on Findagrave and I will transfer management to you (I reserve the right to verify the relationship). Thank you all for your work and submissions.
