Raymond Roy Redington, 76, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, September 23, 1997, in the Harmony House Health Care Center in Brewster.

He was born May 12, 1921, the son of James W and Mary (Smith) Redington at Kingfisher, Okla. They moved to several different places while he was young because of his father's work.

On July 24, 1940, Raymond joined the US Army, serving in the South Pacific during World War II, being discharged Sept. 15, 1945. He homesteaded in Alaska for a while then moved to Everett.

On December 30, 1953, he married Doris Erickson at Everett. They lived in Everett for a while, moving to Sliver Lake then to Snohomish where he was employed with Scott Paper Co. He retired in 1980 after which they moved to Bridgeport in 1988, where they have since resided.

Raymond was a lifetime member of the No. 193 Columbia Lodge F&AM at Bridgeport; a member of the Centennial Lodge F&AM of Snohomish; past high priest of Royal Arch; York Rite 32nd Degree Scottish Rite; Bridgeport American Legion Post No. 218; the Eastern Star, former patron of the Monroe Chapter, former patron Golden Rod Chapter of Snohomish; former patron Puritan Chapter No. 144 of Bridgeport; and former Rainbow Dad for Alderwood Rainbow Assembly.

He is survived by his wife; Doris, at the home; daughter, Linda Burch of Edmonds; sons, Larry Hutchins of Mountlake Terrace, Thomas Redington of Everson, Tim Redington of Cooper Center, Alaska and Wayne Redington of Snohomish; a sister, Hazel Lynch of Miami, Okla; 17 grandchildren and a special friend, Joaquin and Josefina Bonel, Joaquin Jr., Mitzi and Christopher Ray Bonel.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, September 29, 1997 at 2 pm from the Floral Hills Cemetery at Lynnwood. Interment followed. Services under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
