Richmond: Laura E. Singleton departed this life on September 21, 2012 in Richmond, Virginia. She was born Laura Katherine Eccleston on October 4, 1915 to the late John Chamberlain and Mary Owens Eccleston in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She spent her early years in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania before moving to Gloucester in 1948. In 1995 she moved to the Masonic Home of Virginia in Richmond.
Laura was a member of Ware Episcopal Church and later, Newington Baptist Church; the Mildred Warner Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; and the Augustine Warner Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She retired from the V.P.I. Extension Office in 1975 after many years of service.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Elizabeth, Marian, Lucy and Nita; and her husbands, William Alexander, Thomas Turner, Roy Geboe and Dewey Singleton.
She leaves to cherish her memory
her daughter: Mary T. Hogge of Ruckersville, Va
son: William A. Lincoln, Sr. of Detroit, MI
grandchildren: Amy, Tom, Bill, Kenny, Kim and Jon
10 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews
Funeral services officiated by the Reverend Jane Piver will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
