News reached here yesterday of the death in Marion, at four o'clock yesterday morning, of Mrs. Kelly, wife of Col. A.R. Kelly, from the effect of a terrible burn received at five o'clock the afternoon before. It seems in reaching for some article on a mantelpiece, her dress caught fire from the grate, and before help could reach her, she received the injuries that resulted so sadly. - Selma Times
______

We copy the above with sorrow. The lady who lost her life in this dreadful manner was formerly Miss Mary J. McRae, sister of Hon. James B. McRae, of Jackson county, and of our former honored fellow-citizen, the late Gov. John J. McRae, of whose household she was a member when he served as a beloved Chief Magistrate of the State. Although this most charming lady has been gone from their midst for many years, there are friends in this community who remember her for her gentleness and goodness. But, alas, now she is gone forever.

"The Churchyard has one added stone - And Heaven one spirit more."
