Ira Willis Bulson, 86, of Galesburg, died at 12:06 p.m. Sunday, 10/17/2004 at Cottage Hospital.
He was born May 2, 1918 in Victoria, IL, the son of Harry and Edna Bulson. He married Mary Elizabeth Maxwell on October 28, 1939 in Muscatine, IA.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Cynthia (and Patrick) Welch, Galesburg, IL, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
He graduated from Gilson High School. He worked for the former P&M Accessory for 30 years, then Galesburg Auto Supply, and later for The Parts House, retiring in 1993. He served in the United State Navy during WWII, and was a member of the Wataga Congregational Church in Wataga, IL.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM Wednesday October 20, 2004 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with The Rev. Linda Anderson officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites accorded.
He was a wonderful man, with a deleriously funny sense of humor. He loved to kid around with his family and friends...especially his granddaughter's friends, every chance he could get! Even when his battle with Alzheimers started taking it's toll, you could still see that famous twinkle in his eyes, and we always knew that we had to be on our toes when Willie was around!
He was dearly loved, and he is very missed!!
