Mrs A. J. Bandelier, nee Hugy, died on Sunday 11 December 1893 in Lima, Peru. The deceased was born and raised here in Highland and was a sister of Mrs Lamdelet and Miss Molly Hugy here, and also Mr. Ed Hugy in Colorado and Morris Hugy, who preceded her in death here in Highland. In the year 1861, she married a professor, A. J. Bandelier, and moved with him in 1884 to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Last June the professor moved to South America in order to do archeological research for three years, and his wife accompanied him there. For years she had been suffering from stomach ailments to which she finally succumbed. The deceased was 55 years old. Peace to her ashes.

The couple left on 1 May 1892 from Highland IL, after spending a week there visiting with relatives, for a journey to South America to make scientific explorations in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. It will take him about three years.
