Jacob Watson Montgomery Sr., 84, of Shelocta, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Indian Haven Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Indiana, Pa., a son of the late Thomas S. and Alice V. (Buchanan) Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery had attended Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Elderton American Legion. He had been employed by the Indiana Area School District as a custodian for 27 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Montgomery served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He and his wife were frequent vendors at various flea markets. He is survived by his wife, Laura (Tiernan) Montgomery, whom he married Aug. 2, 1975; three sons, Kenneth W. Montgomery and his wife, Twila, of Indiana, John R. Montgomery and his wife, Robin, of Morgantown, W. Va. and Timothy E. Montgomery and his wife, Deborah, of Zion, Ill.; a daughter, Janet L. Cramer and her husband, of Penn Run; four step sons; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five step grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Harry Fair; first wife, Margaret E. Montgomery, who died Sept. 19, 1974; a son, Jacob W. Montgomery Jr.; a daughter, Dorothy "Rosalie" McCormick; one brother, Thomas "Lee" Montgomery; and one sister, Nellie M. Lee. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the CLARK CHAPEL of the BAUER FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 S. Main St., Elderton.
