J. ROBB BRADY, PROMINENT IDAHOAN DROPS DEAD AT HIS DESK TODAY

Active Factor in Newspaper and Community Activities, Dies at Idaho Falls—Published Post

Idaho Falls, May 12 (AP)—J. Robb Brady, publisher of the Idaho Falls Daily Post, and widely known in newspaper and political circles in Idaho, dropped dead at his desk here shortly after noon today. He had been ailing for several days, following an attack of ptomaine poisoning.

Mr. Brady came to Idaho Falls this morning from Pocatello and was ill when he left the train. Shortly before noon he made the statement that he was feeling better. Within a few minutes after, he had dropped over to the floor dead.

ENERGETIC MAN IN COMMUNITY
The entire community was shocked to hear this afternoon of the death of J. Robb Brady, prominent Pocatello business man and publisher of the Idaho Falls Post, who died at his desk early this afternoon at Idaho Falls. Since making his home at Pocatello shortly after the death of his father, the late Senator James Brady, J. Robb Brady had been one of the outstanding men of the community. He was associated with his brother, S. E. Brady, in the construction and ownership of the Bannock hotel and he and S. E. Brady were the officers of the Brady Investment company, controlling lands west of Pocatello and in the Mountain Home cooperative irrigation district.

Mr. Brady was forty-four years old. He was born at Detroit, Kans., and started his newspaper career at Lawrence. He later operated papers at Galena and Carey [sic: Caney] Kans., and founded the Tulsa World. In 1905 [sic: 1906] he married Miss Frances Murphy at Galena, Kans. She died six years ago. Mr. Brady recently entered his chosen profession in Idaho and purchased a controlling interest in the Idaho Falls Post from the Read brothers. Through his efficient management he developed the Post into one of the outstanding papers of the state and was laying plans for future developments on a large scale.

DEARLY LOVED IDAHO
Mr. Brady was a man who dearly loved Idaho, and no small part of his efforts was spent in work looking toward the upbuilding of the state. He was an active member of the Pocatello chamber of commerce, Rotary club, Bannock County Sportsman's association, Pocatello lodge No. 674, B. P. O. E., and Pocatello council No. 892, Knights of Columbus, being especially active in the last named organization. Mr. Brady was also a member of the Idaho State Editorial association.

During his residence here Mr. Brady had lived in the old James H. Brady home at 501 North Arthur. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ada Brady of Los Angeles, and the following children: Roseana, Josephine, J. Robb, Jr., James Murphy, and Governor James H. James is a student at Notre Dame university and Governor is a student at Gonzaga college at Spokane. The boys were notified of their father's death today and will leave for Idaho immediately. During his residence here, Mr. Brady's younger children have been under the care of his sister-in-law, Miss Josephine Murphy, who is visiting in Galena, Kans.

The first news of Mr. Brady's death was received over the Associated Press by The Tribune, and the information given to members of his family. Mr. Brady died while discussing business matter with his bookkeeper in his office at the Idaho Falls Post. For the past few days he had not been well, but at no time was his condition considered serious. In addition to his children, Mr. Brady has one brother, S. E. Brady, and an uncle, John L. Brady, residing in Pocatello.

Mr. Brady was a man who had a host of friends. He was of a sunny disposition, always ready for a joke and an ardent sportsman. He had great faith in Pocatello's future and was always ready to aid in any project which would develop this community.

In addition to his business connections with the Brady Investment company and the Bannock hotel, he at one time managed a local wholesale institution but abandoned this project when it did not prove a financial success. His great ambition was to enter the newspaper field in Idaho, and when he purchased the Idaho Falls Post he often told his friends that he was might glad to get back into the profession he loved so well.
