She was born December 28, 1956 in Ferndale to John and Mildred Sutherland.
Betty Allen was many things throughout her life: a daughter, a poet, a lover, a wife, a mother and teacher. But most of all, she was a fighter to the very end. She never shied away from anyone, least of all herself. Betty touched so many lives during her short time on Earth, and her vibrant soul will continue to shine on in each of us. Every year she brought Christmas to a child who otherwise would not have had one. She reunited our family, the stubborn Sutherlands. She continues to teach her daughters, Emily and Amy, and husband Tom lessons about life, patience, and most of all, love. Her love for people and love for life were apparent from the mile wide smile she always wore. She would do anything for anyone, but if you crossed her or someone she loved and cared for, she wasn't afraid to put you in your place. Her happiness warmed the hearts of so many. Betty always stayed young at heart. She was an amazingly strong woman, stubborn at times but also gentle. Her legacy will live on through the many hearts she touched.
Betty is survived by her husband Tom whom she married December 7, 1988 in Ferndale, MI. Her Children Dawn (Bob) Stephenson, Emily (David) Archambeau and Amy Allen.
Grandchildren; David, Lauren, Catherine, Joseph, Jeffery, Maddi and Sophie. Siblings; Roseanne (Bob) Tierney, Theresa Lock, Lauriane, Linda (Mike) Smith, Peggy Stapleton and Laura. Betty is also survived by her mother, Mildred.
