Harvey Ray Bailey, 80, of Rogersville, went to be with his Lord May 30 in his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1923, to Herbert and Alice (Clubb) Bailey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Theda, who was the love of his life; four children, Bob Hoffman and wife Doris of Rogersville, Harveda Clevenger and husband Daryel of Rogersville, Brenda Downs and husband Ken of Lee's Summit, and Rita Brock and husband Carter of Rogersville; seven grandchildren, Allison Carson, Bob Hoffman III, Roger McCool, Daryn Clevenger, Dallas Clevenger, Bailey Brock and Turner Brock; five great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Degeneffe and husband Paul; brother Roy Bailey and wife Shirley; and a multitude of friends and extended family who adored him as one of the kindest and funniest men ever. He was retired from MidAmerica Dairymen, a 50-year member of Henderson Lodge and a Shriner. He loved his family and took great pleasure in having someone listen to him spin a yarn as only he could. He had a sense of humor that was unsurpassed and never met a stranger and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and served for many years as President of the Methodist Men. He was a fantastic cook and was known for his pancakes and oyster stew. He was always giving. Whether it was vegetables he grew or a woodworking project he made, you never left his house empty handed. Our loss is heaven's gain. He left a Legacy of Laughter. Visitation will be today at PrestonMarsh Funeral Home, Rogersville, with a masonic service. Services are Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Turner Cemetery.
