Married 14 June 1920 in Chautauqua, New York to Glady Delphine Whitney. They had two sons Rexford and Giles. His father was
Virgil Eucerus Whittelsey and mother Sabrina Kilbane. From 1930 - 1940 was working as a laborer for a state highway project. For some reason Giles never liked to give his first name for the census and went by VanNess for some reason.
