SWANTON -- The State Highway Patrol is investigating an Ohio Turnpike crash that took the lives of three people Monday afternoon.

Lt. V.E. Fisher of the Swanton Post, near Toledo, said an eastbound car driven by Andrew Knapik Jr., 64, of Hiram lost control and crossed the median into the westbound lanes, where it was hit by a truck driven by Brian Snodgrass, 53, of Viroqua, Wisc.

Knapik and his two passengers, Barbara Knapik, 64, of Hiram and Carol Knapik, 68, of Aurora, all died at the scene of the accident, which took place at 3:02 p.m. on the turnpike, near milepost 18 in Brady Township in Williams County.

The truck driver was not injured. The three victims were all wearing safety belts. Fisher said it is unknown if weather conditions contributed to the crash.

Andrew was my second cousin. If you have more information please contact me.
