John R. King, age 80, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on Dec. 6, 1931, in Madison, the son of Robert J. and Elizabeth (Emery) King. He was united in marriage to Arlene Hefty on June 16, 1951 in Paoli. John worked for Oscar Mayer for 31 years. After retiring in 1981, he drove bus for Verona Schools and Independent Living.
He was a member of Eastside Business Men's Club, Madison Orchid Society and Yahara Fishermen's Club. He had a passion for raising orchids as well as teaching ceramics. John loved to camp, fish and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Betty Hefty and brother-in-law, LaVern Hefty.
