Born Sept. 8, 1937, in Three Springs, Pa., he was the son of the late Ralph and Verna Starr Miller, and loving husband of Carole S. Cooper Miller of Needmore, whom he married Dec. 2, 1960, at Hancock United Methodist Church.
He was a 1955 graduate of Hustontown High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1962.
He retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, where he was a tunnel supervisor at the Tuscarora tunnel. He was a former Fulton County Republican committeeman.
He attended and was an usher at the Victory Tabernacle, Hedgesville, W.Va.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sandra Coffman and husband, Scott, of Williamsport, Md., Billie White and husband, Daniel, of Needmore, and Christine Avella and husband, Nathaniel, also of Needmore; one son, Brian Miller of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Meghan and Kelsey White, Katie Coffman, and Clayton and Conner Avella; and one brother, Dale Miller of Three Springs.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Maye Black, Rachel Clark and Dorothy Miller; and three brothers, Melvin, David and Brinton Miller.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Needmore Bible Church, Great Cove Road, Needmore. The Rev. Carl Clark will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Burial with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be at Tonoloway Baptist Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton County Community Christian School, 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
