Major Albert Akers, the Confederate Veteran who gives his evening of entertainment at Bland street church tomorrow night passed through the city today en route to Tazewell, Va, where he will appear tonight.
He spent a few minutes in the city arriving on No 1.
He appears as vivacious as a youth though he is 73, stands more than six feet tall and looks every inch a soldier. He resides at Washington. His wife was the daughter of General Pickett, of Civil War fame, and is yet living.
