Joey was my best friend. We became best buddies after we left high school. Bar-hopping, shooting pool, hiking, Springsteen concerts, motorcycle riding (and crashing), hanging out at the beach, off-roading in my Jeep, USC Trojan football games and drunken shenanigans were some of our favorite activities. It was Joey's illness and ultimate passing that made me a warrior in the fight against AIDS, propelling me to eventually become the Chairman of the Board of the Whiitier/Rio Hondo AIDS Project in 2004. My dedication and ongoing devotion to stopping this dreaded disease has always been in the spirit of my best bud. Joey was warm, thoughtful, friendly, funny, smart, compassionate and a great dancer. Most of all, Joey had a great sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh.

I will miss Joey for as long as I live. FIGHT ON!
