"Word was received in East Worcester, Wednesday, from New York City, of the death Tuesday evening, of Mrs. Polly Thurber, widow of the late D. W. Thurber, formerly of that place. Mrs. Thurber had been in poor health for the past eight or ten years and for the last three years has been a helpless invalid. Mrs. Thurber was born at Worcester eighty-five years ago, her parents being Orange and Hannah Wright. On January 1, 1850, she was married to D. W. Thurber of East Worcester. They resided there until 1882, when they removed to Albany. From there they moved to Kansas City, Mo. in 1889, residing there until the death of Mr. Thurber, when she came to New York City, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. H. W. Squires ... She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sophrone Wilsey, of Worcester; three children, Arthur A. Thurber, of East Worcester, Mrs. H. W. Squires, of New York City, and William D. Thurber, of St. Joseph, Mo. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon, in the Methodist Episcopal Church, in East Worcester, at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Austin Griffin officiating.
