Frank D. Bonsall Jr., 82
DELMAR - Frank D. Bonsall Jr. of Delmar died of natural causes Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. He was 82.

Mr. Bonsall was born in Chester, Pa., son of the late Frank D. Bonsall Sr. and Lizzie Bonsall.

He was in the U.S. Army's 70th Infantry Division during World War II. He received a field commission to the rank of lieutenant while in combat.

He was the owner of Bonsall Vending Co. He also was a cattle farmer.

Mr. Bonsall was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. He was mayor of Delmar for six years. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, served on the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital board of directors, was a bank director of the Sussex Trust Co., served on the Sussex County Ditch Commission for many years and was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8276 in Delmar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Bonsall; a sister, Sara Grove; and his first wife, Doris Lee Bonsall.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Bonsall of Delmar; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Joan A. and Richard Scott of Freedom Village, Pa., Gail Hoffman of Rehoboth Beach, Christine and Steve Miller of Birdsboro, Pa., and Kaye and Chris Anstreicher of Elkton, Md.; two stepdaughters and two stepsons-in-law, Carol and James Hill of Seaford and Melissa and Richard Malone of Delmar; two stepsons and a stepdaughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Cheryl Martin of Middletown and Greg Martin of Millsboro; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St., Delmar.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where friends also may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Dr. John T. Randolph will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 101 E. State St., Delmar, DE 19940; or to the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department or to the Ambulance Fund - address for both is P.O. Box 143, Delmar, DE 19940.
