Terry L. Gates, 30, 4836 Lehigh Drive, Springfield, formerly of Sidney, died yesterday at 11 a.m. at University Hospital, Columbus. He had been in failing health four months.

Born July 1, 1947 in Sidney, he was the son of Pete and Bernadine (West) Gates of Sidney.

On June 12, 1971, he married the former Teresa Crusey who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Christopher, 2 1/2; a brother, Gearry of Sidney; and his parents.

Mr. Gates was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Springfield. He was a machinist at the Cascade Corp. in Springfield.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Salm & Wiley Funeral Home tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
