Theodore "Ted" Jervey Simons, IV, of Mt. Pleasant, husband of Eleanor Van Ness Simons, entered into life eternal in the early morning of February 14, 2012, surrounded by his family.

Ted was born November 1, 1936 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Theodore Jervey Simons, III and Laura Douglas Simons.

He graduated from Charleston High School and from Clemson University after which Ted joined the United States Navy in which he achieved the rank of LT Commander, having attended Officer Candidate School. In addition, Ted was a graduate of the Savings and Loan Financial Management School, the Savings and Loan Executive Development School, and the Savings and Loan Graduate School.

He was a Senior Vice President with First Federal of Charleston, SC, where he supervised operations, serving on the loan management committee and management team.

Active in the community, Ted was Past Secretary of the Charleston County Board of Assessment Appeals, Past President of the Charleston Institute of Financial Education, and former state director of the Institute of Financial Education. He was a member of the South Carolina Society, St. Cecelia Society, Charleston Tennis Club and the Grandfather Home for Children in Banner Elk, North Carolina.

Ted is survived by his wife Eleanor Simons; aunt, Mrs. H.R. Pratt-Thomas; sister, Caroline Simons Bonnoitt; son, Theodore Jervey Simons, V; three daughters, Eleanor Legare Simons, Reid Simons Fulton, and Caroline Heyward Simons; four granddaughters, Laura Fulton Stuart, Elizabeth Alston Simons, Taylor Anne Simons, Caroline Hunter Fulton; two grandsons, Theodore Jervey Simons, VI and Douglas James Fulton, III; nephews, Murray D. (Kirk) Bonnoitt, II, Douglas Simons Bonnoitt and Emile Toca.

The relatives and friends of Theodore "Ted" Simons, IV are invited to attend his Funeral Service, February 17, 2012, at J. Henry Stuhr Mt. Pleasant Chapel at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
