Professional Hockey Player. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was born on March 1, 1929. At 5'10", and 165lbs, he played the position of Left Wing for teams in the American Hockey League (AHL), Quebec Senior Hockey League (QSHL), Eastern Hockey League (EHL), National Hockey League (NHL), Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and the ACSr Hockey League. Hirschfeld played for the Montreal Royals from 1948 to 1950, Cincinnati Mohawks from 1949 to 1951, Montreal Canadiens from 1949 to 1951, Indianapolis Capitals from 1951 to 1952, St. Louis Flyers from 1952 to 1953, Providence Reds from 1953 to 1954, Moncton Hawks from 1954 to 1956, and the New Haven Blades from 1955 to 1956. Hirschfeld also excelled in other sports including football, rowing, baseball, was a member of the Nova Scotia Hall of Fame, and was also once a fire fighter with the Halifax, Nova Scotia, fire department with the rank of Captain.
