DEPUTY SHERIFF MATTHEW J MILLER of Altamonte Springs, FL was killed in a motorcycle accident while attempting to make a traffic stop. He graduated from Lyman High, served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1978 through 1984, the Longwood Police Department from 1984 through 1987 and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office from 1987 until present. He served the community for nearly 30 years with integrity and professionalism and was a mentor to the younger officers. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe and Carolyn Moore Miller. Surviving is his wife, Laura Lee of Altamonte Springs; siblings, J Gary (Stacey) Miller of Maitland, FL and Carol L (Larry) Trahant of Chatsworth, California; step-children, Chris Welch, Brittany Welch and Stephanie Dubeck and grandson, Blaine Welch. Funeral services will be held January 4, 2012 at the Northland Church in Longwood, FL with burial following. Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford is serving the famiy.
