Originally named George Frederick Tilghman Jones, but legally changed his name to George Wymberly Jones DeRenne. Reason being there were so many George Jones within his family unit he wished to be able to distinguish himself from them with the name change for mail purposes, etc.

Was a very scholarly intelligent man who put together a huge library, lots of which were books dealing with the history of Georgia. He was of the Jones family of Wormley Plantation.
