William was the son of Methodist Clergyman Andrew Mason & Cornelia (Chittenden) Fitch. He married Mary Ann Grosvenor Peabody of Albion, Michigan there on November 11, 1874. The Fitch's lived at 11428 Mayfield Road SE in Cleveland. William died in the late 1920s after his wife died in 1925. The couple had one son, Ralph Grosvernor Fitch. A 1930 document written by their son Ralph in 1930 to the cemetery sexton pertained to transferring ownership of the family lot from Rev. A.M. Fitch, to their son Ralph, and his cousin Winifred (Sackett) F. Risley (daughter of Emma Fitch Sackett).
