Naomi Dixon passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, September 8th, 2011. She was born Naomi Steadily on November 5th, 1911 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and moved to Long Beach at age six. She married Vince Dixon in 1933 and moved to Oceanside in 1941 where her husband, known as "The Ford King" established Vince Dixon Ford on Hill Street in Oceanside. Vince passed away in 1969, and two of Naomi's three sons continued business operations at Dixon Ford in Carlsbad until 1999.

Naomi remarried in 1988 to Maury Hornsby, and enjoyed many memorable years with him until his death in 2005.

She was a USO and Red Cross Volunteer during WWII, a founding member of the Oceanside Girls Athletic Club established in 1946, a member of the Emblem Club since 1950, and actively involved with the Elks Lodge of Oceanside for almost 70 years. She was honored to become an Elk at 98 years of age. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and colleagues.

Naomi will always be remembered for her kindness, her delightful personality, giving heart, optimistic character, and loving ways. She was an angel in this life and will remain an angel among angels in her life hereafter. Naomi is survived by her 97 year old brother, Paul Steidley; her three sons, Ron, Darrell, and Greg Dixon; seven grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren; and many dear friends and extended family that will cherish her memory indefinitely. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 21st, at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside.
