U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Wittenberg College in 1870, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1872 and commenced to practice law in Springfield, Ohio. He was prosecuting attorney of Clark County, (1874-85) and elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fifth and Fifty-sixth Congresses, serving (1897-1901). An unsuccessful candidate for renomination, he was appointed associate justice to the Choctaw-Chickasaw citizens’ court in Oklahoma (1902-04) and resumed the practice of law until his death.
